Post on website and social media

I receive most of my information through the ODEP website, when looking for policy updates, best practices and evidence-based practices. I do think, however, that a great deal of younger individuals will look to social media, such as postings on Linked In to get their information, so ODEP should be distributing their information through social media outlets. One could also "Tweet" a link to new information.

In my opinion, the key audience is the consumer him/herself.
Actively engaging them through input, insight and incentives to come back into the workforce.
If being out on disability provides the same resources as working, well....

I'm relatively new to all of this so please forgive me if I'm overlooking something that I should already be aware of.

It occurs to me that direct focus on SAW/RTW on it's own is something relatively new, and as such should have a web resource dedicated strictly to dissemination of information relative to SAW/RTW only.

Expanding on the Benefit of Defined Partnerships

sstone shared an idea about partnering with the Workforce system/AJCs. I strongly agree. I would add that it is important to ensure that HR professionals and supervisors know how to assist people in accessing the resources of AJC, the Job Accommodation Network (JAN) and Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) at minimum. Development of Lost time Intervention Teams

Engage the entire team to meet,develope and act on RTW agenda.

Include medical staff, insurer, internal absence management team and supervisors.

Train,educate the supervisor on the need to be more open and creative in the rtw of an employee who might need accommodation. The private medical condition details do not need to be disclosed.

Expand Education beyond Physicians to All Treating Professionals

Most suggestions focus on the medical part of SAW/RTW only. In reality, the biopsychosocial model is being used in most treatment guidelines. What this means is that ALL treating professionals, not just physicians must evaluate from a physical, psychological, and psychosocial perspective. Psychosocial issues are not conditions and are not supported under ADAAA because they are subjective and under voluntary control.... more »
